Suicide Prevention...Yeah I went there.

Still think of him almost daily/weekly.
That day forever changed my life.
I became truly passionate for a cause and want to help change lives, but in a different way than he changed mine.
RIP CMT.
If I can help save just one life, it will all be worth it.

Memorial Weekend Shennanies Recap

Sami's Shenanigans
Jump back on the bandwagon for this link up. It's been a few weeks since I've done it. My badddd...
Any who, here are a few pictures from my weekend. I never remember to take pictures with people. oops.

Outfit for my friend's bridal shower.

Beautiful-ish day for the American Flag to fly on Memorial Day. It rained pretty good part of the day.

Got this in the mail today!! :)
It's a weekender bag. Thought it was fitting.
Had a triple dinner date with some other couples in our friend group. We ate at Cheddar's and then watched The Hangover II. This was my .99 cent shooter dessert. OM NOM NOM.

What did you do this weekend?!? Hope it was great.

Bridal Shower Fiasco

Went to my first ever bridal shower today for a friend from college. They had super cute decorations and the food was really yummy. :) I looked great in my dress, and even flat ironed my hair for the first time in months....my hair ended up being frizzy because of the heat. It was also really great to see the bride!
Now on to the shower story....

I had arrived on time...it was supposed to start at 3. The hosts weren't done setting up yet and the guests all didn't finish arriving until around 4:30....then we got to eat. So we all sat around for an hour and a half doing nothing. I didn't know anyone. Ended up making small talk with the people at my table.
Managed to eat some like snacks, and avoided the desserts. I had dinner plans for 6:30, mind you, I drove 40 + minutes to attend this shower.
By the time we got done eating, I left around 5:30....just when people were finishing up with dessert and some sort of tea was being handed out.
I didn't have time to stay for games or the opening of the presents. :(
But spending 2 1/2 hours in a hot room with strangers was enough. I had Andrew and friends to see for our triple date dinner.
It was really nice to be able to see my friend the bride to be though.
Wish I could have stayed for the gift opening part though, those gifts were piled high.
Hope she liked what I got her! (Bath and Body Works soaps in her favorite scents, and a picture frame)

I shall now leave you with a selfie of me in my dress and my straight hair. Sorority squat...duh. Look how long my hair is getting! :)

My Weakness

Pearls and Curls
It's weekly link up time via instagram and Sara!

Made a stop here for some crafting supplies. Made a few grad cards this week.
LOVE THIS PLACE. My bank account....not so much.

Made cupcakes for an order. :) They are for a bridal shower.
Cha Ching....some much needed money coming my way.

'Merica.

This arrived in the mail, from eBay, duh.

The lady I got the cosmetic bad from sent me this for free. It was really nice of her! But I have no use for it....selling it on eBay folks. Look out for it.

Painted my nails. They chipped like crazy this week due to working...repainted spots several times and finally took the polish off last night.

Tonight I celebrate Andrew's birthday with him. He is 24 today! I'll do a post on this celebrations later.
HAPPY 24th BIRTHDAY ANDREW!

HEAT WAVE!

A few weeks back (meaning 2 weeks ago mind you) it SNOWED in KS. And the temps were only in the 30s....now see below.

You read that right.
KS went from kinda spring, to winter, to SUMMER.
I don't know about you, but I LOVE spring temps. They aren't too cold, or too hot.
My ideal temps/weather is sunny and some where between 65-85 degrees.
This girl needs a break from freezing cold and uber hot. I am NOT ready for 90-100+ degree days just yet.

But on that 90 something degree day I wore this.
Sported my new DZ American frat tank for the first time....yes as an alum.
LOVE IT. 'MERICA y'all.
Hope your enjoying your week, don't worry the weekend is near!
Anyone else experiencing freakishly hot temps?

Mom's Day!

Remember that post I did a few weeks back...M.O.M. to be exact...well here the gift itself is. :)
My mom loved them all and thought it was very creative!
I ended up writing on the mug:
Happy Mother's Day! 2013
And at the bottom with the black part: World's Best Mom. <3

Here is my lovely mother with her gifts I got her.
Today my brother took her to lunch and then headed back to school for finals.
My sister got her an iTunes gift card and a movie.
I went to dinner with her and my dad at Olive Garden...YUM!
Afterwords we headed to the casino where I lost $20.

I'd say she had a pretty good day.

What did you do for your mom?
The weather was beautiful out today.

New Beginnings

Pearls and Curls

This week was jam packed with things to do.
Mostly with work, campus walk prep, and helping Andrew MOVE!! Finally!!! :)
Andrew now lives closer to his mom/sister, and myself. Let's just say I am glad the drive is much shorter, saves on gas and more time together. Who wouldn't love that?
ALL day Wednesday was spent packing him up, moving his stuff, and unpacking. Also some shopping/hitting his mom up for some furniture took place.
His new apartment is coming together nicely. Andrew will be having a apartment warming party on the 21st....so expect some pictures then.
For now I will leave you with these.
What did you do this week?! :)
The u-haul. Not including the front seat or my car...

Fresh chocolate chip cookies for the campus walk bake sale.

Crafted some grad cards!

Pansies! My favorite flower....outside the golf course.

Shennanies Time

Look what came in the mail!

Sad day on Sunday....my sunglasses broke. Luckily I have a spare pair in my car.

Saturday I helped with the garage sale. The proceeds went to the Great KC AFSP chapter.
Did I mention that the weather was rainy and only in the 30s/40s the entire time?! We made a decent amount of money, but would have made more if the weather was nicer.

Cindo de drinko 2013 outfit. Went to a local restaurant with friends, drank, ate queso, and chatted for 3 hours. I had to drive Andrew home last night due to too many beers. HA.

I got crafty and made this memory box, college edition.
I got the memory box for only $13 at Micheal's folks. Run to your nearest location to snatch one up.

This little gem FINALLY came/was found.
Let's just say it ended up in the wrong hands.....and was given back to the rightful owner...me.

M.O.M.

.

I went to Starbucks the other day to meet up with someone. While I was waiting for the person to show up I came across a mug similar to this one. I couldn't help but think it would make for a great mother's day gift.
Who wouldn't love a customizable coffee mug? Since my mom drinks coffee and tea, I thought, heck why not.

I wanted to come up with a non budget busting cute idea for a gift for mother's day.
This may sound cliche but I came up with M.O.M.
That's right the gifts will spell out MOM! Cheese-ily cute, but it's going to happen folks.

Drum roll please....

M-Mug for coffee
O-O.P.I. nail polish
M-m & m's with peanuts

I will be putting a new OPI nail polish color for spring and her favorite peanut m & m's inside the mug and make it a mini gift basket if you will.

Voila! That's my cute idea. :) Steal it if you must, but customize if for the mother figure in your life. Oh and am thinking of also getting her a Gluten Free cupcake from GiGi's cupcakes....just because.

Thinking my family will go out to lunch or dinner that day to celebrate.

How will you celebrate the mother figures in your life?!?

I have been diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression.
After seeking help from a counselor and being diagnosed in 2010...I am doing much better. I did not require any medications, talking things out and learning coping mechanisms helped me.
Depression runs in my family.
I know several people who have depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, etc.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Advice for Those Graduating

To the spring class of 2013: CONGRATULATIONS!
As you prepare for graduation, here are a few things I wished I had done/remembered to do as I graduated, and just some general advice.

Wear shoes you can walk/stand in.
Have lots of bobby pins for your grad cap.
Take pictures with your family/friends either before or after the ceremony.
Decorate your grad cap.
Bring a small bag with your phone/gum/keys, etc.
Order a grad stole/cords if applicable.

Let's just say I my grad cap was too big for my super small head, and I had to re-pin my hat during the ceremony. Luckily I had just enough bobby pins, but still...it was a pain to do.

I missed out on getting photos with family after the ceremony....it was crowded and cold out. My grandparents went straight home, so I didn't even get to see them. They didn't come to my grad party. :(

DECORATE YOUR GRAD CAP. I am SO happy I did. You will see why: See the pictures below.

Now I leave you with some pictures from my Fall 2012 graduation.

My decorated grad cap was one of the few, so it made the commencement ceremony slide show on the university website!! :)

Decked out in my cap, gown, and stole! AY AY DZ!
